 About Us From Orphanage to Adoption The most needy orphans are brought to one of our homes where they are nurtured and given life-changing medical procedures. We have several programs to facilitate the ultimate goal of adoption. Children's Home Program Children reside in a loving and nurturing environment while gaining strength for medical procedures, preparing for surgery and receiving post-operative care. Our trained staff of caregivers and supervisors provide 24-hour care while meeting each child’s physical, emotional and psychological needs. Our child to caregiver ratio of 2:1 allows the children to receive the best care possible. Foster Care Program We believe that every child needs a family. Through our foster care program each child can have a family of his/her own. Once medical care is complete and the child’s condition is stabilized, they can be placed with a foster family. Our Foster Care Coordinator interviews, selects and trains all foster families. Additionally, TCH staff make regular visits to the foster families to assess the child’s development and ensure that the proper standards are being maintained. During this time we work with the originating orphanage who will submit paperwork to China Center of Adoption Affairs to initiate the adoption process for the child. Medical Care Program Children come to TCH with various medical needs including cleft lip and club feet, tumors and heart defects. We provide basic medical care to all children and surgeries for life-changing and life-saving situations. The Medical Care Coordinator schedules and organizes all medical visits, treatments and surgeries. When a child is in the hospital a caregiver remains with the child around the clock to provide care and comfort. Surgery costs vary depending on the severity of the problem and range from $1200 for cleft lip surgery to $6000 for heart surgery. Community Outreach Program For many parents the decision to abandon their child with a medical condition is based on their inability to pay for medical care. True Children’s Home provides funding for medical care to qualified families, allowing them to keep their child.
